2023 MANDO’S MISSION UPDATE
We were grateful to have had two groups go to Honduras with us in 2023. The first was in July, and was
our largest group to date, 45 team members. This group included 22 youth and sponsors. The last
group was in November and consisted of a 12-member construction team, and two pastors that
conducted training for local pastors and ley leaders.
JULY
We were pleased for the first time to have a group of Mt. Zion’s youth and sponsors as part of our
largest group yet! Having them with us provided a new, welcome dynamic to our team. They were able
to interact with the kids that were present at the clinics and establish relationships with our team of
local teen translators. We hope that it made a lasting impression on them and helped ignite a passion
for short-term missions. We look forward to having similar groups join us periodically.
Along with serving at many of our regular sites we served in three communities for the first time. There
we provided our regular services of medical clinics, Bible school, dental services, fluoride treatments,
etc. Our construction team primarily worked on the construction of a house for one of our Honduran
families. We felt led to do this because the father is a wonderful Christian brother and has provided
security for our team since our first team arrived and is a constant figure while we are there. His home
was previously destroyed in flooding.
The trip was highlighted by a minimum of 30 adult salvations while serving in six different communities.
Two of the salvations that stand out in my mind were a security guard that spent two days with us, and
one of our teen translators that was with us the whole week. While it is fulfilling to aid with meeting
medical and physical needs, nothing compares to the opportunity of sharing Christ, and knowing that we
will see these new converts in Heaven one day.
NOVEMBER
Mando’s Mission was grateful to have a former team member agree to lead a construction team of 12
men. They performed several small jobs for locals in areas that we have ministered in. This gave them a
great opportunity to spend time with these families and interact with them in special ways. Throughout
the week they continued to work on our Mando’s Mission headquarters compound. The plan for the
compound is to provide a living area for Mando while he is there, possible housing for smaller teams,
secure storage areas, an eventual church site, and community area. We are thankful for the men that
worked very hard that week and the influence they had in the communities they served.
Another service that was provided was training for local pastors and ley leaders in the area. The training
was conducted by two of our pastors and dealt with topics relevant to these leaders. The first session
focused on assessing the needs and challenges faced by them. Then they prayed with them individually,
for both for their families and local ministry challenges. Secondly, they addressed spiritual gifts and
their personalities. God has blessed them all with gifts and personalities which are different, and that
there is a need for each other. Through these sessions we wished to encourage them and build a
network of support for folks that accept Christ, and to work with our teams while there. We want to
have local pastors to help new Christians in their walk.
We want to thank everyone that ministered with us in 2023. Along with those that physically traveled
with us we want to thank those who regularly support us prayerfully and financially. To our team
members, we cherish the friendships made and hope that you received a blessing that will always be
remembered.
